How to embed tweets in WordPress (without slowing your site)
WordPress can show a tweet wall with the built-in Custom HTML block. You don't need a plugin.
Steps
Build the wall
Open the AddTweets embed tool, paste your tweet links, choose wall, slider or carousel and click Copy code.
Add a Custom HTML block
Edit the page or post in WordPress, click the + button where the wall should go and search for "Custom HTML".
Paste and preview
Paste the code into the block, switch to Preview inside the block to check it, then update the page.
Good to know
- Using the classic editor? Switch the editor tab from Visual to Text (or Code) before pasting, otherwise WordPress turns the code into plain text.
- Page builders such as Elementor, Divi or Beaver Builder have their own HTML or Code widget. Paste the same code there.
- Some security plugins strip scripts from posts. If the tweets show as a plain list without layout, allow the script from addtweets.com or paste the code in a block your plugin trusts.
Questions
Do I need a WordPress plugin to embed tweets?
No. The Custom HTML block that comes with WordPress is enough. Plugins usually load the official X script, which is heavier.
Will it work on WordPress.com?
On WordPress.com, custom scripts need a plan that allows plugins and custom code. On free plans the tweets still appear as a readable list, just without the wall layout.
Do I need to update the code when I add tweets?
Yes. The tweets are inside the code, so after you change a wall in AddTweets, copy the new code and replace the old one. Save the wall to your account so you can reopen and edit it.
